About Leslyn

Leslyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland - essentially, they are the same thing but they're called by different names in different states. She also holds the designation of National Certified Counselor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling.

While she works with a variety of mental health issues, more than half of her practice is devoted to relationship counseling and communication difficulties. Personal growth and development is also a specialty; helping people live more authentic lives through self-discovery and introspection.

Leslyn has maintained a blog for several years both at TheHarmonyCC.com and at ThisIsLeslyn.com, the latter being the most recent body of work. Her book, Be Happier, Healthier, and More Productive; 365 Inspiring Ideas is available on Amazon.

Leslyn is also a founder and co-host of the podcast Try This at Home, a weekly podcast highlighting ideas that make life better through a series of conversations. It is available on Apple Podcasts,Spotify,Stitcher,Google Play, orFeedburner.

She is transparent and direct, offering a coaching style with metaphors and real-life examples to make a point and demonstrate solutions. She is compassionate, caring, and empathetic to the struggles and challenges that life dumps in our laps from time to time – working to help you find perspective and solutions.

Also available to see clients is Jennifer King -

“If you are depressed you are living in the past, if you are anxious you are living in the future, if you are at peace, you are living in the present". . .The immortal wisdom of 6th c. philosopher Lao Tzu informs my approach to life and to therapy. I seek to help my clients be open, curious, and accepting of their present experiences, to make meaning from their adversity, and to embrace their futures with a sense of agency and adventure.

I specialize in the treatment of trauma and adjustment issues relating to life transitions and aging. I also commonly work with individuals who feel stuck, directionless, hopeless, or overwhelmed and anxious, and others who lack a sense of meaning and purpose. And, I work with couples and families who are impacted by these very personal, individual struggles.

We will work collaboratively to integrate mindfulness with emotional, cognitive, and behavioral therapies to harness and channel your suffering and transform it into meaning, inspiration, and power. And I will work with you and your family to help you understand, honor, and balance each other’s complex needs in order to cultivate collaboration and harmony.

I hold a Master’s degree and an Education in Science degree in professional counseling from Seton Hall University as well as a Master’s degree in communication. I am a pre-licensed counselor with 1,100 hours of supervised clinical training -- 50 yrs life experience -- and am currently accruing my 3,000 supervised hours toward licensure.

I am a married mother of two nearly-grown children, three cats, two dogs, and a handful of chickens. I began my professional career in the fast-paced and exciting field of public relations working in the healthcare sector in New York City. For many years hence, raising my children in the beautiful rolling hills of Chester County was my number one job. When I reached mid-life --  my kids nearly grown -- I endeavored to pursue what I believe is my life’s highest purpose as a mental health counselor. I have a complicated personal history and bring to my role a tremendous amount of what I have come to call, “earned empathy.” I believe in making meaning from adversity and helping others to not just survive but thrive.
